LOS ANGELES ? Nicolas Cage is meeting with a judge at a Los Angeles courthouse to try to settle a lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend over money and a house she claims the actor promised her.
Cage is facing off with ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton, who also is attending the settlement conference to try to resolve her lawsuit.
A judge on Tuesday morning ruled that Fulton couldn't sue Cage for breaching an oral contract to transfer ownership of the house to the former actress. She sued the Oscar winner in December 2009 for $13 million, claiming he broke a promise to care for her and their adult son.
Cage arrived wearing a black suit and was flanked by sheriff's deputies as he entered Superior Court Judge Teresa Gordon-Sanchez's courtroom.
The judge urged Fulton to consider a settlement Tuesday, saying a resolution before trial is the "best option for everyone involved."
