LOC's Digital Preservation Calendar | Library Developments

The Library of Congress has created a calendar of digital preservation courses to help people access training in the practices of digital preservation. The calendar lists nationwide continuing education courses and workshops in digital preservation.

So far, there aren?t that many courses listed.? However, this was just recently launched so if your organization is offering any related courses soon, entries are very easy to add via a simple form.? You can input free or for fee courses.

Perhaps most important is that there are some free training opportunities listed.? Here are the free archived webinars listed:

ALA?s Preserving Your Personal Digital Memories

ALA?s Protecting Future Access Now Models for Preserving Digitized Books and Other Content at Cultural Heritage Organizations

Webjunction?s An Introduction to Digital Preservation

ALA?s Digital Preservation: An Introduction to the Basic Concepts

In addition to their calendar effort, the Library of Congress Digital Preservation Outreach and Education staff compiled many rich resources on digital preservation including videos and podcasts.

They will soon be offering a train-the-trainer opportunity workshop intended for people who have at least some knowledge of digital preservation and are interested in developing the skills to train others in it.

For train-the-trainer workshop information, please contact Barrett Jones.
