PUEBLO ? New and expectant mothers can arm themselves with knowledge necessary to raise a happy, healthy, and safe child at the 3rd annual Community Baby Shower presented by the Pueblo Early Childhood Council and the Colorado State University-Pueblo Nursing Department. The free event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, May 17 at the Praise Assembly of God Church in Pueblo, 2000 Troy Avenue.
The community baby shower offers pregnant women and parents of children up to five years of age an opportunity to gain knowledge about the growth, development, and health of children. Parents, including grandparents who are raising their grandchildren, can learn how to keep their children safe and healthy and how to access the tools and services necessary to make sure their children grow, learn, and play in the best possible way.
Last year, numerous local community partners came together to help improve the health of Pueblo children by providing an opportunity for new parents to learn from local health care representatives (such as pharmacists, nurses, and lactation consultants) how to help their baby learn and grow.
Numerous resources will be available, including car seat safety checks, as well as information on Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) opportunities, vaccinations, and nutrition. Door prizes, giveaways, coupons, and samples will be featured as well as a story time for children.
