iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak Goes Untethered, Excludes iPhone 4S and iPad 2

Glorious jailbreaking news! And during a holiday week, no less. Those developers must've been busy avoiding their families on Christmas day and powering through the iOS jailbreak. Well, that's to your benefit, jailbreaker. The Verge is reporting that the iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak is now untethered thanks to pod2g. Basically, you can now jailbreak your iOS device over the air, without having to connect it to your Mac. It should also be noted that this won't work with the iPhone 4S or the iPad 2.

Unfortunately, this feature doesn't work with the iPhone 4S or iPad 2. The untether exploit is available in redsn0w 0.9.10 and PwnageTool, all in a Cydia package. Those with a tethered jailbreak can search for "Corona" in Cydia to untether. More information is available at the Dev-team Blog.

This should go without saying, but if you jailbreak your phone, all bets are off, so proceed with caution before you do so.
