When I replied to your post, I assumed that you meant the direct line feature of the Outline Descendant Report, as that is the report I always use for direct line presentations.
The checkbox to include spouses in that report DOES include spouses of ALL of the ancestors. Interestingly, it doesn't show the spouse of the "bottom" person. Also, there is a bug in that additional spouses of ancestors are included in this report and should not be.

So, when I see in your reply that you are referring to a chart, I move onto the Descendant Chart, which also provides for a "Direct Line" feature.
This one provides for a checkbox to include the spouse of the primary individual (ie top ancestor).
But.... all subsequent generations show the spouse. In fact, the line of descent is drawn from the spouse to clarify which spouse of multiple spouses is the parent of the next generation.
So.... you must not mean the Descendant Chart???

Are you referrring to the Relationship Chart? Which can be forced to show a direct line from ancestor to descendant - and does not show spouses?
There has been discussion here about this shortcoming of this report and several people have posted they have made enhancement requests for this chart to include more info, including the spouses of all generations.

My apologies for misintrepreting the chart you were referring to.
I would suggest you use the Descendant Chart or the Outline Descendant Report to show direct relationships to include the spouses who were blood ancestors of the bottom descendant - not the Relationship Chart.
If you are not referring to the Relationship Chart - which chart are you referring to?
